This week was our week to settle in as a family of four. Our visitors were gone with no one coming until maybe Christmas. We also had a little bit of cabin fever set in this week. While it’s been nice to have the time st home, we are not used to it and so we all started to get the itch this week a little bit.
Physical
So much soreness is gone which is great to be able to move around again at a normal pace and also to be able to carry Elijah around again. Still right around 10 lbs over pre pregnancy weight, and my stomach is very loose and squishy.
Breastfeeding
Incredibly frustrating. I get him to latch on and then once letdown happens he pulls off, gets sprayed in the face by milk, has issues latching back on, and I’m soaking wet from the milk that spills out and the milk that leaks from the other side. The amount of laundry I create is insane. And he’ll sort of take a bottle but then wants the boob right after so that’s not really even an option.
Emotional
Isaiah sleeps in 20-30 minute increments unless someone is holding him. He’s had a handful of 2-3 hour stretches at night, but pretty much I haven’t slept in 3 weeks now, which does a number on emotional stability and patience. I feel like most days I am coping pretty well, but that’s not to say there’s tough moments.
Life with two
It really doesn’t feel that much different. It’s definitely a little more chaotic, and one of the really hard things is holding the baby and trying to get Elijah to do something or go somewhere because I can’t carry both right now. But other than the occasional time where Elijah will tell one of us to hold the baby so the other can do something or him taking his blankets from Isaiah because they’re ‘Elijah’s blankies’ there’s not much jealousy at all.
