“There is no way to be a perfect mother, and a million ways to be a good one.” – Jill Churchill
This quote stuck out to me this week because Elijah has been sick with his first ear infection, and I feel like there have been so many things for me to consider in helping him get better. I had to wonder if we should have noticed and kept him home the day before, if we took him to the doctor soon enough, if I was offering the right drinks and food to help him get better, especially because he didn’t seem to want anything I offered, whether or not I should give more Motrin or Tylenol, and whether I should stay home from work or not. Well, fast forward 2 days and he’s back to his happy little self for the most part, so while I probably didn’t do the perfect things, they were good because he’s better.
This is just one example of the many many ways as moms that we just cannot be perfect. There is no one perfect option when it comes to our babies. We will always wonder if we did everything right or did all we could. But there really is not such thing as perfect. Every situation and every child and person are different, so while you can’t do it all perfect, you are definitely a good, even great mom every day!
